THE SET FEATURES ORININALLY INSTALLED  SLINGERLAND SETOMATIC TOM ARM AND SPURS LENDING TO A MUCH MORE STABLE SET UP THAN THE RAIL MOUNT AND SIMPLE DISAPPEARING WALBER SPURS
For clarification this bass drum does indeed feature the heavier 60's type shell and not the thinner later 70's era shell

Here is some info on Mr. Paul Berns Career
Paul Berns has been a member of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra since 1969, Principal Percussionist since 1981, and has often been heard as a soloist with the ISO. He earned his Bachelors of Music Education degree from Baldwin-Wallace College, having studied with Cloyd Duff and Joseph Adato of the Cleveland Orchestra. He obtained his Masters Degree from New England Conservatory on a scholarship and studied with Vic Firth of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He was awarded a full fellowship to Tanglewood for three summers, and twice won the coveted C.D. Jackson Prize for performance. He also studied privately, while in Boston, with Alan Dawson at the Berklee School of Music.

Mr. Berns' performance background includes working frequently with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops, the Opera Company of Boston and many contemporary music projects in Boston and New York City. Berns headed the Percussion Department at Butler University for ten years (hosting the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in 1981 before taking on the responsibility of Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Personnel Manager.

Mr. Berns served on the Board of Directors of the Percussive Arts Society for eight consecutive years, and often served as Indiana State Chair of the same organization. He is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternities and was inducted into Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. Since his sophomore year at Baldwin-Wallace College, Paul has taught privately and his students have attended many of this country's prominent music schools.

Paul is currently on faculty teaching scholarship students and Percussion Ensemble at the University of Indianapolis. In addition to his career in a major symphony orchestra, Paul is a leader and founder of the Indianapolis Rhythm and Mood Ensemble, formerly known as the Indianapolis Jazz/Rock Ensemble a very popular dance band that has played concerts and special major events in the Indiana/Illinois area.
